Hallie was a life long resident of Rockbridge County. Originally from the Jacktown area just west of Lexington, she lived in the Natural Bridge Station area most of her life.
As a child, in the late 1920s and early 1930s, Hallie spent much of her time with her maternal grandparents, Samuel & Saville Armentrout Wilhelm, working with her grandfather cutting down trees and dragging them via horses down the mountainside and working with her grandmother learning how to cook, can preserves, and sew.
In the late 1930s and early 1940s, Hallie worked for former Washington State Senator & United States Ambassador to Peru, Miles Poindexter, along with her mother and sisters, cooking & cleaning, and later bought her Natural Bridge Station home, which had previously been owned by Miles' brother, F. Poindexter, from the Francis family in 1957.
Hallie began working at Lee's Carpets at Burlington Industries in Glasgow in 1942 and remained there for 46.5 years until retiring in 1989.
Hallie spent her remaining years traveling, spending time with her family, and doing the things she loved most. She loved to travel and often fondly reminisced of her visits to the Bahamas and around the United States. As an avid NASCAR fan, she attended many racing events in Virginia, North Carolina and Texas. She greatly enjoyed outdoor activities, and especially loved mowing her yard with her John Deere tractor, which she did until she was 92 years old. She also loved her many stuffed animals, often referring to them as her 'babies'.
Hallie was a faithful Christian and member of Faith Baptist Church in Natural Bridge Station, Virginia.
Hallie is survived by her three children; Frances Williams Brown of Natural Bridge Station, Ronald Williams & wife Thelma 'Boots' of Concord, NC, and Arnold Williams, Sr. & wife Patricia of Natural Bridge Station, five grandchildren; Roger Brown of Buena Vista, Kevin Williams & wife Kyong 'Ume' of Laurel, MD, Amy Williams Ross & husband Larry of Charlotte, NC, Arnold 'Rhudy' Williams, Jr. of Natural Bridge Station, and John Mark Williams & wife Jennifer of Natural Bridge Station, four great-grandchildren; Karyn Brown Gardner & husband Joshua of Natural Bridge Station, Zachary Brown of Rockbridge Baths, April Williams of Laurel, MD, and Luke Williams of Natural Bridge Station, as well as nieces & grand-nieces, nephews & grand-nephews, many extended family members and many friends.
