June's obituary

Gwendolyn June Parson, 96, known to all as June, passed away at home in Toney, AL on August 9, 2020. Born to Ella and J.H. Emery in Hudson, S. Dakota, on March 18, 1924, June married A.C. Parson in 1946. They made their home in Wichita KS, where they were founding members of Dellrose Methodist Church and were active there for many years. In 1963, Boeing transferred A.C. to Huntsville, AL, where they lived until 1972. Active at Highlands United Methodist Church, the Bama Ramblers Square Dance Club and as band parents, June expertly designed and sewed many costumes, choir robes and dance dresses for her four daughters. Boeing transferred them back to Wichita in 1972 and they became active members of Grace Presbyterian Church, involved in the Prison Ministry and Liners. June was a successful real estate agent with Don Dinning until retirement. Following the loss of her A.C., June moved to Ft. Collins, CO, in 2004. There she enjoyed the warmth, care and closeness of living with her daughter Christine, with her daughter LeAnn nearby in Loveland. Following Chris's passing, she moved to Huntsville where she chose to live at Morningside Assisted Living and then Elmcroft of Byrd Springs. Her grandson, Michael and his wife, Mary, were amazing support and caregivers along with her daughter, Beverly. She moved home with Bev just a few short days before her passing. Preceded in death by her husband, A.C., her daughters Christine Gibbar and Janet Lessin, she is survived by daughters Beverly Cowling of Toney AL (and partner Donald C. Dump), and LeAnn Beavers of Wappapello MO (and partner Todd LaFever), seven grandchildren: Michael Milly (Mary) Madison AL, Erica Stewart (Ryan Garrison), Lawrence KS, Clint Heitman (Ann), Wichita KS, Shannon Johnson (James) O'Fallon MO, Cori Heitman, Wichita, Tyler Lessin-Gallegos (Kyle), Wichita, and Kenny Gibbar, Ft. Collins, CO, and eight great grandchildren.
Loved by all who met her, her sweet spirit shone in every word spoken and her smile invited all into her world. A great joke teller, she loved to tease and laugh. She was also an avid bridge player.

A memorial service will be held on August 29 at 1:00 p.m. at the home of Beverly and Donald in Toney, Al.

Final interment will be at White Chapel Memorial Gardens in Wichita at 12:30 on September 11, followed by a Celebration of Life Service at Grace Presbyterian Church at 2:00 p.m.

The family is being served by Berryhill Funeral Home in Huntsville AL. (Berryhillfh.com)
