Gwen's obituary
With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Gwen "Gwennie" Overstreet aka Mom, Nana, and GiGi. Born on November 20, 1942, Gwen's strengths were overcoming adversity, and embodying the true meaning of unconditional love. Always there for everyone, Gwen was a loving, giving, funny, and beautiful soul who loved her family and friends dearly. Her life journey concluded on February 11, 2024.
Gwen is survived by her children; daughters Sandra "Sandy" and Tammy Overstreet, and son Gerald "Jer" Overstreet. The warmth of her love was also extended towards her grandchildren Brianne Murphy and Brandon Murphy, and great-grandchildren Hayla and Taiya Booth. She is also survived by her sisters Pam Johnson and Robin Tull, as well as many nieces, nephews, and other family and friends. Gwen was predeceased by her parents, Lester and Nellie Richardson, and her sister, Loretta "Pat" Edwards.
Gwen enjoyed reading, music, watching TV (General Hospital, DWTS, & The Voice) and watching movies.
She also enjoyed playing cards and Yahtzee with friends. Dancing at The Cross Roads was one of her favorite past times.
Some of Gwen's favorite foods were chips, cookies, & spaghetti and she couldnt get enough of her Diet Caffeine Free Pepsi.
A celebration of Gwen's life will take place on March 9, 2024, at 2:00PM (potluck meal following Ceremony) at Prince George's County Elks Lodge #1778 located at 6700 Kenilworth Avenue Riverdale, MD. 20737
Gwen's legacy will be the cherished memories she leaves behind and the lives she touched. Her greatest accomplishments were overcoming adversity and demonstrating the true meaning of unconditional love. Gwen will be profoundly missed by all who knew and loved her.
