Guadalupe's obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Guadalupe "Lupe" Mendoza, a beloved mother, partner, and friend. Guadalupe was born on October 13, 1949, and left us on July 12, 2023. Her strength, vivacity, and unyielding spirit marked every moment of her remarkable life.
Known affectionately as Lupe to some, she always favored her given name, Guadalupe. Regardless of the name she was addressed by, her love and affection were directed towards one and all. Her presence was a beacon of love, strength, vivaciousness, daring, and an indomitable spirit that left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
Guadalupe is survived by her loving children, daughters Jessica Hernandez, Maria Mendoza, Cecilia Sanchez, Belinda Mendoza, and sons Homero Mendoza Jr. and Roberto Mendoza, along with 14 grand children and 6 great grand children. Each of them carries a part of her spirit and her teachings, testament to her wisdom and love.
She was predeceased by her life partner, Homero Mendoza, a loss that was keenly felt yet courageously borne. Their love story was one for the ages, and its echoes continue to resonate in every life they touched together.
Guadalupe's lessons were as profound as they were reflective of her vibrant personality. "Al nopal solo se le arriman cuando tiene tunas." This saying, which translates to "People only approach the prickly pear cactus when it bears fruit," encapsulates Guadalupe's belief in the power of resilience, self-reliance, and the importance of standing tall, even in the face of adversity. This enduring lesson, along with so many others, remains as a powerful legacy of her remarkable life.
As we mourn the physical loss of Guadalupe, we celebrate the indelible footprints she left on our hearts. Her life was one of authentic existence, filled with love, laughter, courage, and a zest for life that will continue to inspire us all.
