On Friday, July 22, 2022, Grover Cleveland McKenzie, Jr. entered into eternal rest. Cleve was 62 years old.

Born in Norfolk on May 13, 1960, Cleve spent his childhood years in Lynnhaven Colony in Virginia Beach and attended Frank W. Cox High School. After high school, Cleve passionately pursued a career in framing houses, becoming a master carpenter. He worked for many builders in the Tidewater area, picking up new skills quickly and completing projects with precision and excellence. In his free time, Cleve enjoyed spending time on his boat and fishing with his children.

Cleve is preceded in death by his first-born child, Grover Cleveland McKenzie, III, and his stepbrother Mackie Robinson.  

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 19 years, Charlene; two sons, Kenneth and Kyle (Sarah) McKenzie; two step-children, Robert (Erica) and Amanda Thomas; one grandson, Oakley; five step-grandchildren, Cory, Destiny, Jimmy, Alexis, and Isobel;  his father, Grover Cleveland McKenzie, Sr. (Terri); his mother, Brenda Robinson (Malcolm); five sisters, Patti (Terry), Chrissy (Cary), Patricia (Rusty), Dana (Eddie), and Beth (Mark); and brother Barry (Lisa). Cleve will be remembered by many nieces, nephews, and other family members.

A Memorial Service will be held for Cleve on August 6, 2022 at 7:00 pm at the Sandbridge Community Chapel located at 3041 Sandpiper Road, Virginia Beach, Virginia 23456.
