Greta Lou Frederick, 82, of McAlester, OK, peacefully passed away in Keller, TX, January 27, 2021. Greta was born, February 6, 1938, in Quinton, OK to Burke and Ida George. She was one of six (6) children. She graduated from Canadian High School in 1956; then, attended Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, OK. where she received a bachelor’s degree in Arts and Elementary Education. Greta was married to Bern Wright Dayley in 1964 and had two (2) children, Darren and Shahna. In 1981 she married Joseph Robert Frederick. As a
lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Greta faithfully studied the scriptures, served in many callings, and developed a deeply personal relationship with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. Greta was a dedicated and faithful daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She was passionate about art and education. When she retired as an art teacher from Savannah High School in 2001, she had spent more than 30 years in the classroom, molding and shaping young minds. In her spare time, she was an accomplished seamstress and artist.
Greta is survived by her son, Darren (Kim) Dayley, and their four (4) children, Cameron (Ashley) Dayley, Collin (Annie) Dayley, Zachery Dayley and Joshua Dayley of Keller, TX; daughter Shahna (Joel) Peal, and their three (3) children, Brooke Peal, Logan Peal and Alec Peal of Leander, TX; stepson, Joseph Robert Frederick, Jr., and his four (4) children, Amanda Moore, Krystal Maples, Christopher Maples, Heather Maples of McAlester, OK; stepdaughter, Teresa (Steve) Jean and her three (3) children, Jackson (Marissa) Herrick, Jenilee (Timothy) Emerson, and Jonathan Herrick of McAlester, OK; stepson, Jene Frederick of McAlester, OK; sister Mildred Bettis of Tulsa, OK; sister Aline Burnett of Crowder, OK; sister Sallye Merrill of Chubbuck, ID; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, great grandchildren, great-nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Greta was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Frederick; father and mother, Burke and Ida George; brother and sister-in-law, Burke and Clara George.; sister, Elinor Doane; brothers-in-law, Mack Bettis, Bill Burnett, and Stanley Merrill.
A private graveside service will be held for her family.
