Gregory's obituary

Gregory A. Wood stop letting Alzheimer's control him at 4:45 a.m. on Tuesday, April 14, 2020. Mr. Wood is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Patricia A. Wood, and his children: Nicholas A. Wood, Joel J. Wood, Alexa Gaeta, Alyssa N. McElwain, Justin L. McElwain. He is further survived by his grandchildren, and his beloved fur babies. Mr. Wood is now free to be the person he wants without the confines of this disease. April 14, 2020, his loved ones gained an angel to watch over them. Not only was Gregg ("with two G's") a hero to his wife and children, he was a hero for our country, and our youth- Mr. Wood fought in the Vietnam War, and went on to teach our young and impressionable youth. He will be forever remembered for his affinity and love for the sea, learning, working on and crusing boats, and Jimmy Buffet- that was when he was happiest. Mr. Wood would want us to remember him with his infectious smile, behind the wheel of his 57' yacht with a cold Land Shark in his hand... to paraphrase The Captain and the Kid by Jimmy Buffet: "He died a few hours ago, while springtime filled the air. And though I cried, I am so proud to have loved a man so rare. He's somewhere on the ocean now. Thats where he ought to be. With one hand on the starboard rail, he's waving back at me." And this statement is now forever true. #foreveraparrothead

For those who are inquiring, there will not be a formal funeral as Gregg never wanted one. Mr. Wood wanted to donate his body to science and for further medical needs and research on Alzheimer's. Following the completion, his wishes included being cremated and spread in one of many places. Organization of a celebration of life will be made following creamtion.
