The past and more recent past. Borrowed Elena's photo of them singing and added Grandma's 95th birthday pic where they are almost in opposite spots. The last time the 4 of them were together.

My sincere condolences to Greg's family, especially Mary, Elena, Greg and Maria. I first met Greg when we started Gonzaga University as freshman together in the fall of 1964. They made freshmen wear goofy-looking beanies the first week back then. How embarrassing! But we got through it. Soon we had some classes together. We began to "hang out" with each other. We even joined the "Spokane Club" on campus. We went to indoor dances and what they called slab dances in city parks in the summer. We double dated. We were members of the "Downshifters" Auto Club for a while. There was always a piano in the Student Union on campus and after classes, Greg would play song and after song and he would soon draw a crowd (mostly ladies) who would make song requests, and he could play them all by ear!
Off campus, we "hung out" at our house in Opportunity, Washington and at his house in nearby Greenacres, Washington. In our senior year (1967-1968), we shared a tiny apartment off campus together. (In June 1968, I joined the United States Coast Guard for four years and I never came back to Spokane to live. Sadly, I lost meaningful contact with Greg at some point.)
Anyway, along the way, Greg met Mary Flannigan (not knowing she would someday be the love of his life) and his life changed forever! Well, I have to say that Greg was "like a brother from another mother" when we were together. And I certainly miss him as we all do! God's speed, my brother!
Please enjoy the few pictures that I have from the Good Old Days!
