Gregory King Smith was born August 27, 1947 in Chardon, Ohio to William and Evelyn Smith. He had one brother, Stuart Smith who was 15 years older than him. Greg and his parents moved to Hemet, CA in 1961 where Greg attended Hemet high school and lettered in basketball. After two years of playing basketball at San Jacinto Junior College, Greg was recruited to play at La Verne College. There, he earned the nickname "Leaper" …
