Gregory's obituary

Gregory Allan Helenski, son of Josephine (Malobisky) and Stanley Helenski and brother of David Helenski all predeceased was born May 1, 1948 in New Kensington, PA.

Greg passed away peacefully March 16, 2024, at home after a year long battle with Esophageal cancer.

Greg’s family came to Detroit when he was 5 years old. He was an all-star quarterback, class of 1966, for Henry Ford High School's football team and was such a talented Shortstop for the baseball team that he received a full scholarship to Brown University.

All the while, Greg was an outstanding front line Right Wing for multiple hockey organizations. Most relevant, Burton Title -National  Champions 1965-1966, where Greg was voted best in the Nation for his position.

It was during this time, Greg was forming friendships that have lasted a lifetime. From working candy shop counters at the age of 12, to delivering potatoes; it was construction where he found his expertise. On the golf course is where the passion played out!

Later in life, Greg met and married Mary and became an amazing stepfather to Joseph Bojanic (Michelle), Brittany Ostrowski (Michael) and Robert Bojanic; loving grandfather to Brooklynn, Lukus, Owen, Dalton and Teagan Bojanic.

Greg will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
