Gregory's obituary
Gregory Stephen Godo, a loving father, grandfather, son, uncle, and brother, passed away on February 24, 2026, one day after his 78th Birthday.
Born on February 23, 1948, Gregory was a visionary artist, craftsman, photographer, master builder, mechanic, and talented drummer who lived unapologetically and unconventionally. Defined by boundless creativity and a passion for transformation, Gregory was an artist to the fullest degree. His unique perspective allowed him to see beauty and humor in the mundane. He was most at home in his workshop, where he would draw, design, and rebuild. Throughout his life, he rebuilt cars and motorcycles, transforming them into works of art with custom paint jobs. He loved his time with family and close friends.
A graduate of the Kendall School of Design, Greg pursued a lifelong career in the arts, first as an Art Director and later as a business owner. To Gregory, every object held the potential for reinvention; he spent his years turning “anything and everything” into a unique artistic expression.
Greg was an independent, funny, curious, inventive soul, with a no-nonsense attitude. He always seemed to sense when you needed cheering up and would inject humor at just the right moment. He was most proud of his three children and the strong, loving people they had become. His absence will be profoundly felt.
Gregory's father, Edward Godo; his mother, Matilda Godo; and his brother, Edward Ronald Godo, all passed away before him. His sister, Lisa Godo, as well as his children—Jennifer (Godo), Hodge (Morty), Andrew Godo (Tiffany), and Betsy Godo—survive him. His survivors include numerous grandchildren—Hailey, Hollen, Harper, Hudson, Holden, Haddyn, Gauge, Gunnar, Ava, and Echo—as well as great-grandchildren, a nephew, and a great-niece.
A funeral Mass will be held at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Ann Arbor on March 21st at 11:00 a.m. The church is located at 530 Elizabeth St, Ann Arbor, MI 48104
