Gregory William Gibson, 53, of Morris Plains, NJ, passed away Tuesday, June 25, 2019, after a yearlong battle with leukemia. Born on August 22, 1965, to Gregory and Marie (Schatzlein), he was raised in Dumont, NJ.

Greg is survived by his beloved wife of 23 years, Melissa (Maruschak), his two sons, Jeremy and Kyle, his daughter, Kelly, his mother, Marie, his brother, Larry (Terry), and his sisters, Jacqueline Franklin (Gene), Margaret, and Marie Morgievich (Stan).

Greg was a Managing Director at BNY Mellon. Prior to that, he was Director of Business Solutions at Pershing LLC. Greg was also with Lockheed Martin Space Systems supporting the deployment of the ACTS NASA Satellite.

He attended Dumont High School, received a B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering from Rutgers University and an MBA from Rutgers Business School. He has lived in Morris Plains, NJ, with his family for 23 years and served on the Morris Plains Board of Education while his children were young.

An avid mountain biker in his younger years, he grew with his family, loving to travel with his daughter, Kelly, attend baseball games with his son, Kyle, and support his son, Jeremy, and the Morristown High School basketball team. He also liked to cook, garden, and ride his moped around town. His impressive follow-through, from planning vacations to completing business projects, and his quick-witted humor highlighted his passionate yet charismatic character. Above all, Greg should be remembered for his hard work and dedication to improving the lives of his family, friends, and coworkers.

In lieu of flowers, Greg’s family is establishing or choosing a charitable fund to help ease the lives of others going through cancer treatments. His children have seen the impact of an extensive illness and want to help others in this situation. Information on how to donate will be added to this site in the coming days.
