Gregory's obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Gregory Wayne Dunn, who departed this world on June 23, 2024. Born on July 14, 1947, Gregg lived a fulfilling life, marked by adventure, a love for nature, spirituality, a passion for mathematics, sports enthusiasm, and a commitment to giving back to his community.
Gregg , a lifelong thrill-seeker, infused his adventurous spirit into every aspect of his life. His love for nature was undeniable, having visited every national park in the United States - a commendable feat that remains one of his most significant accomplishments. His spiritual journey was also a remarkable aspect of his life story.
For many years Gregg served as a mathematics educator at Killian High School . Right out of college he taught at Herring Run Junior High where he actually taught his own sister Cathy . His deep love for mathematics was infectious, inspiring countless students to embrace the subject. He held the belief that every complex problem, like in math, had a solution and taught this lesson to his students.
In addition to being a seasoned educator and adventurer, Gregg was also a passionate sports fanatic. Whether he was actively participating out on the golf course or cheering on his favorite teams , the Miami Dolphins and Marlins , his enthusiasm for sports was always on full display.
Gregg's legacy extends beyond his personal and professional life. He was a tireless community servant, volunteering for the Cancer Society Relay for Life with his dear friend Sandy Paster and passionately supporting the National Parks Conservation Association and multiple Veteran charities. His generous spirit and commitment to serving others left an indelible mark on his community.
Gregg is survived by his sisters, Sandra Riff and Cathy Reese; his brother-in-law David Dodson; his nephews , Ryan Reese , Matthew Riff and Levi Paul and his nieces Rachel Riff and Addison Paul . He also leaves behind a wonderful group of loving , caring friends and cousins . His death leaves a void that will never be filled, but his spirit and legacy will live on through the lives of those he touched and through the sharing of his many adventures and experiences.
As we mourn the loss of Gregg, we also celebrate a life well-lived, marked by kindness, adventure, a love for learning, and a heart for service. His life and legacy will continue to be an inspiration for us all.
We will celebrate Gregg's life on Sunday, July 14th, 2024 at 2PM at the Miami Springs Country Club 650 Curtiss Parkway. We invite our family and friends to join us as we gather to share memories and stories to celebrate the exceptional life of our beloved brother..
