Greg Calhoun was the crush of my life! SO handsome, yet humble, confident yet sweet, hard charging yet considerate…suave yet so down to earth.  Always laughing.

I wasn’t able to make most of my Centennial class reunions due to work conflicts-but I remember once someone asked me, “who would you most like to see?” Greg Calhoun couldn’t fly out of my mouth fast enough! Hard to believe he was even more handsome. He was a great listener too. He would always look at me with this look of anticipation as if he couldn’t wait to hear what I was going to say. Unfortunately “please kiss me on the lips!” never came out! 🥰

I don’t know if he knew about my lifelong crush, but I know he would have handled it with grace and charm. He will be so missed, but forever be my crush!

With Love,

Kathie Hasson Moore

If I had known that I would be writing something about Greg from our 40 some odd years together, I would have done a better job of keeping notes. I met Greg in 1990 at MSA/Dun & Bradstreet Software during the dawn of software sales. Although he had come out of EDS & then Perot Systems, I  & our "band of brothers" got to see the Greg we all came to know & love. Incredible passion, intensity, joy, happiness, willingness to help whenever & wherever he could. His incredible work ethic led him to the company's award trip, Chairman's Council in Maui as one of the top achievers where we cemented our own brotherhood.Over the years, his great adventure took him out of Texas, but for us, never further away than a phone call. Each one of them felt like he never left & we always ended our calls talking about our children. Over such a long period of time, not only did Greg & I grow up "together", but our calls allowed us to hear our kids grow up as well. Matt, Kaitey - my most sincere condolences for your loss. No matter what we were talking about during our calls & most of the time it was problems/situations that we were facing, Greg just lit back up when he got to talk about you two.The love & pride that he has for you was just incredible, but I'm pretty sure you already know that.

Finally, I have a friend whose grandmother raised him. She taught him that "we all get the same 24 hours" . I believe that Greg cracked (nature's) code & figured out how to get a few extra hours into his day.

I loved you brother! I'll see you soon!

We met Greg in the pool in Kona. We started chatting and we’re so surprised to find out he was moving to the very place we live.
Greg was such a bright light, always smiling, always friendly, and always very caring. When my husband was diagnosed with prostate cancer, he made us his famous meatloaf dinner. That was incredibly kind as he had only known us for a short time. We loved chatting with Greg, he always took the time to do so.
Greg was also kind enough to go to lunch with our 23 year old son when he was looking for feedback in getting a job after college graduation. Our son really enjoyed talking with Greg, and we so appreciated his willingness to help.
We are heart broken by his loss and our thoughts and prayers go out to his loved ones. Dale and julie melssen
Our hearts are so saddened to hear of Greg’s passing. In every picture we see his heart and love for family shines through.  We send our love to each of you and want you to know we are here if you need anything.  May Gods love bring you comfort as you remember and celebrate the love and joy he shared with each of you.  ❤️

Words can't begin to express our sadness about Greg.   From the time he was a little boy his charisma, charm, infectious smile and I have an idea (that he was already implementing ) was his winning way.    Where there are no answers may you find comfort and peace in memories and God's love.

I’m so sorry to hear about the loss of your dad and brother.

An incredible man that always acknowledged you by name.

We will miss his presence on the courts and his warm smile.

So many great memories of seeing my cousins in the Summer!  Cindy was my age, and Greg was my brother Tom’s age.  Janet was the little one.  Lots of fun and noise on the Fourth of July! Our poor parents.

Sending my deepest sympathies.

I never had the opportunity to meet Matt’s father, but experiencing how earnest, welcoming, gregarious, and loving Matt is, know that he must have been a wonderful man. Praying for peace for your family now and always.

Greg invited his pickleball buddies from Oregon to the Shamrock tournament in Lake Las Vegas, his old stomping grounds. We had such a great time. Greg was so proud to share his friends with us and to show us around the area, all the beauty, where he used to go hiking, etc. We so enjoyed our time there with him and his NV friends. I will always treasure our time with his gorgeous smile and gift to gab.

Traveling with Greg was always an adventure and a blessing. We went to Europe in 2006, to escape work pressures, visit my relatives in Copenhagen, and then venture off to Prague and Amsterdam. We stayed at my aunt’s home on a canal in Copenhagen for a week, and Greg quickly settled into a morning routine – heading off to the shop across the street for fresh pastries and coffee, where we would eat outside and soak in the local culture, plan our day, and talk about life. Of course, Greg became instant friends with the pastry shop workers! Every day, we explored Denmark (Tivoli Gardens, Helsingor and Hamlet’s castle, the canals, the Carlsburg Brewery, the Danish coast, as well as a quick excursion into Southern Sweden). Then, to Amsterdam for the art galleries, windmills and lots of beer-drinking…followed by a host of activities in Prague. Always a new adventure, with Greg befriending everyone, whether they spoke English or not. Always squeezing-in maximum activities every day. Brother Greg, you were an internal combustion of energy, a friend to everyone, and a never-ending inspiration to all that knew you, with a true spirit of adventure. I miss you, Brother Greg. May your memory be a blessing to all that knew you, and may you find eternal peace.
