"Greg"'s obituary
10/22/1939-01/04/2024 -R.I.P. + Greg Gallegos, Greg-DAD
Our beloved father, Greg, was called upon by Jesus on January 04, 2024 while visiting in Durango, CO.
Dad's 2 Loving Companion furbabies, KASHA and LUCKY were left behind in Colorado and we're trying to reunite them back to Laredo, TX with their Master whom they love and miss so much and have family awaiting anxiously.
Dad is now an Angel watching over us. He will be deeply missed by his children, grandchildren and friends. Dad was a very well known Laredoan, a PROUD U.S. Navy Veteran, Distinguished Educator, Coach, Dog Business trainer and loving father. He loved telling stories about his years in the Navy and how he traveled all over the world and made friends everywhere he went. He loved listening to music, especially the "oldies" like Patsy Cline, Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presly, Little Joe y la familia, and the list goes on . He was an avid dog lover by nature and since we were small children we always had dogs. This love followed us and now as adults, we, his children and grandchildren, all have that same love and compassion for animals that he passed down. Upon dad's passing he left behind his 2 life companions, "Kasha," a Beige Lab and "Lucky," a Mastiff that was given to him as a gift by his daughter, Geraldine and her husband Joe. He loved those 2 with all his heart! Dad was a retired Teacher of 40 years with L.I.S.D. at Lamar Middle and Farias Elementary. He was actively involved in with the youth of Laredo and was the Director of the Northwest Boysclub where he coached football and baseball. During his coaching years, he also coached his son, Gerardo Gallegos. He loved organizing field trips at school where he was a Teacher and would always take his daughter Geraldine with him on all of them.
Dad served on the Board of Directors in the early 80's with U.I.S.D here in Laredo, TX. Soon, after retiring from the School District, dad went to earn his certification to be a licensed certified dog trainer. After completing his necessary courses he opened his own dog training business and named it Texas K-9 Dog Obedience School. That was our dad's dream come true. He worked hard for what he wanted and earned it in the end.
We love you and miss you so much Papi. 💔
You will always and forever be in our thoughts, prayers and hearts.
Our Daddy's Celebration of his LIFE will follow his Memorial mass. 🙏 🤲
Thank you and God Bless You-His daughter, Gerry
