Grant's obituary
Grant Jeffrey Cline
May 4, 2007 - June 6, 2025
Grant Jeffrey Cline, age 18, of Frisco, Texas, passed away on June 6, 2025, while pursuing his passion in his favorite place, Yosemite National Park.
Born and raised in Frisco, Grant graduated from Centennial High School a semester early, in December 2024.
Shortly after, he set out to follow his dreams, living with purpose, seeking challenge, and embracing the natural world with fearless determination. His heart belonged to the cliffs and peaks of the great outdoors, where he felt most alive.
Grant was adventurous, intelligent, and charismatic - a rare soul with an authentic presence. He was determined and stubborn in all the best ways, grounded in all his interactions, endlessly curious, and remarkably hardworking. He believed deeply in living with intention and making every moment count.
He is lovingly survived by his parents, Jeffrey and Jennifer Cline; his sisters, Sydney Cline Aldredge, Adrianna Cline, and Ellianne Cline; and his brother-in-law, Zachary Aldredge. He is also survived by his grandparents, Kent and ReNay Swarts, and Don and Thanna Cline. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Patricia Cline. Grant is also survived by his aunt and uncle Kelly and Stephanie DeLay and their daughters, Cameron and Ashley; his aunt and uncle Adam and Lisa Cline and their children, Andrew, Allysa, and Braden. Grant also leaves behind his two best friends, London Rambo and Evan Naomi, along with many others who were deeply inspired by his life and spirit.
A celebration of Grant's life will be held on June 26th at 6:00 PM at Canyons Rock Climbing Gym in Frisco, Texas, the place where his love for climbing first began.
A quote that resonated deeply with Grant: in the words of mountaineer George Mallory, when asked why he wanted to climb Mount Everest, he replied, "Because it's there."
Grant lived boldly and left a mark on everyone who knew him. His legacy will continue in every climb, every sunrise, and every life he touched with his courage and kindness.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations made to Friends of Yosemite Search and Rescue in Grant’s name.
