On the morning of November 29, 2022, Grace Frances Wier (Fran) died peacefully in her sleep at the age of 98 (what would have been 99 on December 30, 2022). She was living at and being cared for by the staff at Sunnybrook Hospital Veterans Centre in Toronto, Ontario. Fran was born in Calgary, Alberta, daughter to Ethel and John. She completed her degree in physiotherapy from the University of Toronto after which she worked with veterans from WWII, as well as patients attending the Donwood Foundation Hospital and Rehabilitation Centre. She was married to Stew Wier for 51 years and together raised their two sons, John and Scott in the Toronto community of Leaside. Fran was an extreme socialite, garnering a wide array of friends from various parts of the world. She was known for never missing or being late for a social event, occasionally lambasting more than one officer who stopped her for speeding to whatever function she felt trumped the rules of the road. She is predeceased by her husband Stew, and her eldest son John. She is survived by her youngest son Scott, his wife Candida, their children, Adam and Danielle, her nephew Terry, nieces, Pat and Bonnie, and nephews-in-law, Murray and Victor.
