May 18, 1930 – June 21, 2025 

With heavy hearts and deep love, we share the passing of our beloved matriarch, Grace Bernice Shipley, who left this world peacefully on June 21, 2025, at the age of 95. Born on May 18, 1930, in Jamestown, Tennessee, Grace lived a long, rich life full of resilience, laughter, and unwavering devotion to her family.

Grace had a way of making even the simplest moments feel special. She found joy in everyday pleasures like browsing the Strawtown Flea Market, baking sweet treats from scratch, playing bingo with a twinkle in her eye, worked MANY crosswords and never missing her favorite soap operas. Garfield made her laugh, Ricky Skaggs made her dance, and her love for old westerns transported her to another time. But more than anything, she loved her family deeply and fiercely - and yes, she absolutely adored her white truck, teddy bears, and anything the color peach.

To know Grace, was to be loved by her. She poured her heart into her family, building a legacy of kindness, strength, and unconditional love. 

She is survived by her children: Betty, Bobby (Cindy), Gaynell, Beth (Bill), and daughter-in-law Lori; her cherished Grandchildren: Cassie, Lesley, Brian (Rachel), Dawn (John), Marna (Brian), Danny (Cristal), Lauren (Robert), Kristin, Jessica (Jon), William, Richard, Amber (Cody), Robert, Michael, Chris, Ronnie, Shawn, and Josh; Great-grandchildren: Erin (Davon), Brylee, Devenly (Marissa), Draven, Leah, McKenna, Samantha, Lacie, Henry, Grayson, Harper, Samara, Dravin, Alex, Raelyn, Justice, Gemma, Christopher, Madisyn, Baylee, Raylan, Judd, Dylan (Kara), Landon, Carson (Allie), Lonna (Ryan), Taylor, Bella, Dani, Keegan, Shanelynn, Cary, Caden, Aryal, Jayden, Carter, Kayleigh, and Jimmie; and Great-Great-grandchildren: Adrianna, Elias, La’liahna, Maevis, Kendrick, Becklynn and Evie. She also held a special love for Nala, Kristin’s beloved kitty.

Grace is now reunited in peace with her parents, Clovis Crabtree and Nannie Elizabeth "Sis" Asberry; her 13 siblings, P.B., Marie, Webster, Sterling, Stella, Nellie, Fonzie, Frank, Haywood, Roosevelt, Allen, Oakley, and Tom Lee; her children, Tex, Nancy, and Russell; her grandson, Mark; and son-in-law Don. While our hearts ache with her absence, we find comfort in knowing she is surrounded by love on the other side. 🪽

Grace’s presence was a gift - steady, nurturing, and full of light. Her love was a quiet but powerful force, and her memory will forever live on in the stories we tell, the recipes we pass down, the songs we hear, and the color peach that will always remind us of her.
