Grace's obituary
Grace Miller Meyers (born Anna Grace Miller) peacefully passed away surrounded by family on March 13, 2022, in Farmington, CT. She was born August 24, 1928, in Glen Cove, NY to Laurence Michael Miller and Anna Mae Miller (Warnau). Grace graduated from Glen Cove High School in 1946. She received her BS in Education from State Teachers College in Buffalo in 1950 and studied Art at the Albright Art School in Buffalo from 1946-1949. She returned to Buffalo State College in 1960 and received a Masters in Education in 1962. During this time she taught art and Kindergarten in Buffalo, Denver, CO and Los Angeles, CA. In 1972 she received her American Montessori certification and was co-founder, administrator and teacher at the Early Childhood Learning Center Montessori School in Stony Brook, NY for nearly 20 years.
She met her husband, Norm in Buffalo on a blind date and they married June, 26, 1952 and were married nearly 68 years until Norm’s passing on January 24, 2020. After living in Denver and Los Angeles, the moved back east and settled in Setauket, NY, where they raised their daughter Sharon. They enjoyed many adventures living across the country, especially their retirement to the Outer Banks of NC. They both loved living near the water or being out on a boat. They shared a love of art and pursued many creative endeavors together. They had many friends wherever they lived and loved entertaining and travel. Most important to them was spending time with Sharon, son-in-law Ken Levine, and granddaughters Ansley and Amelia, in NC and in CT where they all moved in 2013.
Grace was predeceased by her brother Dr. Richard Miller. In addition to daughter Sharon and her family, Grace is survived by nieces Sheryl Miller Tucker, and Marnie and Jill Joyner and their families. We are so fortunate that Grace lived a long life and we were able to spend so much quality time with her. We love you Mom - a bushel and a peck.
