Karen Grace Francois, Markert passed into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior 14 January, 2021 at the age of 82 years in Tempe, Maricopa County, Arizona.
Grace was born 8 June, 1938 in Jersey City, Hudson County, New Jersey. She was the daughter of Camille Lafayette Francois and Julia Helen Fortun, Francois, both deceased. Grace grew up in Jersey City and married Theodore “Ted” Markert in September, 1959 in Harrington Park, Bergen County, New Jersey. He was also a native of Jersey City, they grew up in the same neighborhood. He preceded her in death in 2009 in Apache Junction, Arizona.
Grace loved gardening, loved the job she had in a flower shop, and was a talented home decorator. Grace was highly active in her church, spending hours each work running the kitchen – there was always fresh coffee and snacks for any service and event. She loved taking care of others.
Grace was preceded in death by all her siblings: Camille Francois, Donald Francois, Gerard Francois and Lois De Fina. Grace is survived by a sister-in-law, Dawn Francois, a son, Steven Markert (Stephanie) Grand Junction, Colorado and a daughter, Thea Dudley (Darren) Travelers Rest, South Carolina. She is also survived by four grandchildren: Jennifer Hansen (Matthew) Matthew Markert (Brittany), Loryn Dudley, Colton Dudley and three great Grandchildren, Liberti, Caleb, and Conner.
The family would like to extend their grateful thanks and appreciation to the Caregivers of Horizon Care Home and Hospice Nurses who have made her life happy and comfortable in these past several years, and especially these last few months. She spoke highly of everyone of you.

A family memorial is planned for late spring. The family requests in leu of flowers donations be sent in her name to the Gold Canyon United Methodist Church, Fellowship Hall – 6640 S. Kings Ranch Road, Gold Canyon, AZ 85118.
