Gracie's obituary
GRACE GLORIA BOND, lovingly called "GG or "Miss Grace" her daughter. was born on February 7, 1932 to the late Oscar and Sarah Bishop in Gravel Hill, Havre de Grace, Maryland. She departed this life on Monday, January 8, 2018 in Aberdeen, Maryland at her daughter's residence.
Grace received her early education in the Havre de Grace Colored Public School System and later graduated in 1950. She was united in holy matrimony to Herbert Eugene Bond, Jr. on December 8, 1961. From this union, one child was raised. She was employed at Perry Point Veterans Administration Hospital as a food technician and she went on to become an entrepreneur in Agriculture with her husband from which she retired. Grace was a very positive, vibrant and fun-loving person who was always smiling and striking up a great conversation. She was a sister and a mother who had a strong belief and bond with her family. She was one of kind. Her favorite hobbies were reading, sports enthusiast that loved football, fashion and she was a walking history book filled with wondrous stories of life in the 20 Century.
Grace leaves to cherish her memory; daughter, Sarahia Benn and Wesyna Davis (S. Benn's partner); grandson Rahman Washington, Aberdeen, Maryland; Deborah, Kahlil and Herman of Aston & Chester, PA of whom Grace was like a second mother; 3 surviving siblings of 13, Geraldine Hague, North Carolina & Georgia, Dorothy Hall, Abingdon, Maryland and Albert Bishop, Georgia; 9 nieces a IS nephews; and a host of great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Sarah Bisnop and her husband, Herbert Eugene Bond, Jr.
