Goldie was born January 5, 1928 in Oklahoma the daughter of Lester and Gracie (Davis) Long. She married Alva Eason. She later married Everett Grist in 1978, they both preceded her in death. She is survived by her two daughters Freda Wheeler and husband Larry of Mattoon, IL and Sandy Speer and her husband Kip of Mattoon, IL. She is also survived by her six grandchildren, Shane Wheeler of Neoga, IL, Chad Wheeler of Mattoon, IL, Chris Wheeler of Windsor, IL, Thomas Wheeler of Destin, FL, Gracie Speer of Mattoon, IL and Tanner Speer of Mattoon, IL. She is survived by ten great-grandchildren. Goldie was one of thirteen children and is survived by her siblings, Tommy Long of Mattoon, IL, Richard Long of AR, Mitchell Long of OK, Larry Long of KY, Zora Hicks of Mattoon, IL, Cora Norman of Marion, AR, Linda Long of Dyess, AR, and Betty Townsend of Dyess, AR. She was preceded in death by her husbands, her parents, and four siblings, Donald Long, Alvie Long, Dovie Reavis and Imogene Stice. Goldie truly loved spending time with her family, cooking, sewing, antiquing and collecting dolls as well as many other things. She also enjoyed playing cards, especially hand and foot with her family. Goldie retired from Eastern Illinois University after twenty-five years of service as a cook. The family requests no flowers.
