Glyndia's obituary
Glyndia Faye McGlothin, 78, of Homewood, Illinois, formerly of Arlington Heights, Illinois, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2025.
Born on March 5, 1947, in Meridian, Mississippi, Glyndia was the beloved daughter of Aaron McGlothin Sr. and Rebecca Johnson, both of Mississippi. She was the second of three children and grew up with a strong sense of family, faith, and determination.
Glyndia was a bright and ambitious student, graduating high school in just three years from Lucy Flowers Vocational All-Girls School in Chicago. Shortly after, she began her career as a candy striper at Garfield Hospital, where her compassion and care for others shone through.
Over the years, Glyndia worked in several respected roles — at an investigation bureau, as an assistant manager at a real estate office in Oak Park, and later as a commercial layout receptionist for Kraft Company. She also served as a PBX (Switchboard) operator for Illinois Bell Company and as a receptionist for Stifel Nicolaus Company at the Midwest Stock Exchange. Her professionalism, warmth, and reliability made her beloved by colleagues everywhere she went.
Beyond her career, Glyndia’s true dream was to direct a national choir that would travel around the world to minister to many souls. She enjoyed fellowshipping with many and loved singing unto the Lord.
Glyndia was married twice — first to Morris Beeks Jr. and later to Randle Sneed. She left behind two daughters, Moneia and Tawn Beeks, seven grandchildren Kenyatta, JaLeesa, Anthony, Antoine, Christian, Lauren, and Isaiah. She also leaves behind fourteen great-grandchildren, two nieces, two nephews, and a host of grand and great grand nephews and nieces.
Because of God I Remember...
Because of God I remember that it was about a decade & a half ago He blessed us to finally meet you.
Because of God I remember the day you took the taxi cab from the far north suburbs to the south suburbs to live with us for a time.
Because of God I remember all 4 generations of us beneath 1 roof with His Divine Help.
Because of God I remember laughable moments & tears as well...But God was, is and always will be Forever Good.
Because of God I remember we had to get creative with names for Grandmother & Great-Grandmother.
Because of God I remember you didn't like either name. You wanted us to call you, "Brown Skin Monday" in your cool mellow voice.
Because of God I remember we agreed on Maw-Maw & GG. You said, "Yeah, I like that."
Because of God I remember sitting on the floor at your side & I was sharing all this blessed Gospel has done for my soul.
Because of God I remember we prayed & I let it be known I want our family to be saved.
Because of God I remember you spoke in a low voice to me..."Keke, I believe God brought you back to this family to point us back to Jesus.
Keep praying for us." Then & now I'm no one special; but so blessed I answered the call & I'm chosen by God.
Because of God I remember you told me, "You look like a dean of students. You could be a dean of students."
Because of God I remember even in your old age how you were into keeping yourself together.
And at times in your cool mellow way you would say, "I'm up." It made me laugh every time.
Because of God I'm grateful & thankful for the decade plus time of you. My heart holds a mixture of emotions.
At this time it's still fresh & new; but The God of all Comfort & Grace will heal us in the loss of you.
Because of God I remember Saturday (10/04/25) we were miraculously blessed to have one more moment with you.
In Jesus Name: you are loved & missed still Maw-Maw. I love you & Goodbye- Kenyatta/ Keke (your Granddaughter)
