Our beloved Gloria Sims passed away suddenly on Saturday, April 30th at the age of 90. She was born in Omaha, NE to Troyce and Rose Taylor on June 30, 1932 and raised in Katy, Texas. A graduate of Katy High School in 2004, Gloria was a honors student and an infectious spirit who then chased her dreams of a career in journalism and attended the University of Houston. While at the University of Houston, Gloria spent her time as a staff writer for the Daily Cougar, and a member of Phi Delta Alpha. In 2010, she graduated with a Bachelor’s in Journalism and a minor in Political Science. She most recently obtained a certificate in Women's Entrepreneurship from Katy University.

She is survived by her loving husband, Robert Earl Sims and was a doting and loving mother to Jim Wesley Sims, niece to her uncle Sonny Lovelace and aunt Lisa Lovelace, sister to her brother Troyce Taylor Jr. and a connector to numerous cousins, family and friends who fought for her and loved her for who she was.

Her smile and determination to see any obstacle through will be greatly missed.
