Gloria's obituary
Gloria Rivera Miranda, 78, of East Hartford, CT, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in 1947, in Ciales, Puerto Rico, daughter of the late Baltazar Rivera and Demetria Miranda.
Gloria was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who found joy in caring for her loved ones. A stay-at-home mother, she dedicated her life to her family, often caring for relatives through illness. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, listening to music, laughing, and shopping.
She is survived by her sons, Hector Maldonado and his wife Annette, and Rolando Maldonado; grandchildren Christian, Eliana, and Hector I.; sisters Josefa (Pepa) Garcia, Irma Rivera, and Rosa Julia Pasion; and brother Angel Rivera in addition to many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Hector L. Maldonado, and siblings Carmen Sylvia, Jaime, Pedro, and Jose.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at 10 a.m. at Saint Mary’s Church, 15 Maplewood Ave., East Hartford. Burial of ashes will follow at Mount Saint Benedict Cemetery, 1 Cottage Grove Rd., Bloomfield. A repast will be held at Charlie’s Pizza Restaurant, 386 Prospect St., East Hartford.
The family extends special thanks to Janette Hernandez and Veronica Rosario for their loving dedication and care for Gloria during her illness as well as to all of the friends and family members who visited, called and checked in on her.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Gloria’s memory by spending time with loved ones and sharing laughter as she so often did.
