Gloria's obituary
Gloria Parado was born in Manila, Philippines on July 8, 1940. She grew up devoting herself helping others through numerous charitable works at the Patronato de Nuestra Señora de Lourdes in Malate, Philippines and in Tamasopo, Mexico. Though her efforts as a dedicated dentist touching countless lives, she never sought or expected thanks for her work- the knowledge that she had helped another person was thanks enough. Her selflessness extended past her career and into her personal life, too. Gloria was kind, caring, and generous, traits reflected both at home and when out in the field.
Gloria met the love of her life, Jose Quinagon, while visiting their respective cousins. A Few years later, excited to start their new lives together, the two were married April 11, 1966. Thrilled to begin a family of their own, they welcomed their first child, Svetlana (Nicolas) Quinagon Thillier. Gloria and Jose later had four more children: Michelle Quinagon; Cherylle (Daren) Quinagon Hicks; Jam (Jaime) Quinagon Lopez; and Valerie (Brendan) Quinagon McMahon. Their children meant the world to them, their relentless love extended to their grandchildren, or mga apo.
Though she loved playing the piano, singing or whistling any of her favorite tunes, traveling, gardening, and winning at solitaire against herself, Gloria’s favorite role was that as a lola, or grandma. She treasured her time with her grandkids and loved being their lola, never failing to forget anyone’s birthday or feeding them with Jose’s prepared food for merienda. Although her physical presence no longer graces us, she lives on through Raizel Dela Cerna, Laurène Thillier, Jared Olivar, Riston Dela Cerna, Anaïs Thillier, Schuyler Olivar, Ransley Dela Cerna, Charlize Lopez, Milena Hicks, Tyler Lopez, Cassiopeia McMahon, Haven Lopez, and Prometheus McMahon.
Her memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved her and the tunes of the songs that were dear to her. Gloria is survived by her sisters and brother Celna (Alexander) Conforti, Linaflor Parado, Shirley (Dennis) Molitor, Cherry (Robert) Medrano and F. Jon Parado. She was preceded in death by her parents, Felicisma A. Parado, and Froilan B. Parado; and her sister, Rosario Kuylen and Milagros Parado; infant brother, Carlito Parado; and brother in law Dennis Molitor. Loving her family never came difficult to her- it was an innate and inherent need for her to do so. She loved loudly through her actions, her words, and the sincere love in her eyes when she looked upon her loved ones.
Gloria Quinagon will dearly be missed- the love that she has bestowed on everyone around her will continue to live on.
