Gloria's obituary
Gloria Jean Pennington, 83, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2024, comforted by her loving family. Born on October 10, 1941, in Belcourt, North Dakota to Alfred and Margret DeCoteau, she lived her life to the fullest with love, humor, courage, and determination. We will miss long walks in the park (Will Rogers Gardens, Canal & Land Rush monument, and Scissortail parks were her favorites), drinks at Starbucks (a dry cappuccino with 1 ½ packets of sugar), bike rides at the Mickelson trail and around Lake Hefner, and the most delicious fruitcake at Christmas.
She devoted her life to the care of others as a respiratory therapist and NICU nurse, mentoring and training countless numbers of healthcare professionals. In her retirement, she met the love of her life, John Kurjan, and they shared 12 wonderful years filled with love, humor, friendship, and adventures. Her love of biking brought joy and lifelong friends and enriched her life immensely. Her love of gardening, reading, and conversation over the perfect cup of tea was shared with family and loved ones and leaves us with warm memories.
Jeannie is survived by daughters, Lori Tochterman and Celina Andersen; son-in-law Chris; her favorite grandsons Adam, Ben, Michael and Brien; granddaughter Annaliese; greatgrandchildren Ian, Audrey and Timothy. She is missed by her loving sister Donna and nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her partner John Kurjan and parents Alfred and Margret DeCoteau.
Memorial service will be held on January 18, 2025 at St. Philip Neri Catholic church, Midwest City, at 10:00 am.
No donations or flowers necessary. We would love sharing memories though.
