Gloria's obituary
Gloria passed away early Sunday, October 1, 2023, at the age of 94. Staff at Hudson Manor, the assisted living facility where she had lived the past 3½ years found her unresponsive around 7am, during a routine check on sleeping residents.
Gloria grew up in Roberts City, a neighborhood on the river, not far from what is now the Tampa Heights Public Market. She was the youngest of the 7 children of Antonio (“Nico”) and Eva Salinero and was pre-deceased by her 6 siblings: Antonio (“Papi”), Mercedes (“Nona”), Stella (“Chiquitica”), Lugarda (“Luga”), George (“Yoyi”), and Orlando (“Lando”).
She was married to Peter Pages Jr. for 30 years and had two children by him. She is survived by her sons, Peter R Pages (Lisa Parsons), Dr. Kenneth Pages (Ryne Gallien), her grandchildren, Anna Pages (Peter Travis) and Daniel Pages, and her great-grandchildren, Callisto Travis and Finn Pages.
Gloria enjoyed many special friendships over the course of her life, among them: Yvonne Polo, longtime friend and work associate; Mary Ann Horne, daughter-in-law; Marion “Mami” Cacciatore, cousin; Louis Castro, brother-in-law; Willie, Manual, Melissa, Karl, Tom, and Suzanne, neighbors; Dawn Harmon, caregiver; Chris Corey, friend; Rashed Aldhaheri, “3rd son”).
Gloria was a good and loving mother and friend, was well loved by those around her, and had a great sense of humor as well as a gift for making people feel welcome and at ease. She worked hard all her life and was financially independent and generous throughout. She was a person who greatly valued family and hosted regular family gatherings at her house. She will be sorely missed.
A celebration of Gloria’s life will be held November 11, specific time and place to be determined.
