Gloria Rose Barnes was born Feb. 18, 1928 to Thelma Evelyn and Roy Arthur Barnes. On Jan. 30, 2018 (the night of a Blue Supermoon in total eclipse) and just 19 days short of her 90th birthday, she “went home”. She passed after a harpist played beautiful music for her for over an hour. She had played first violin in the San Francisco symphony and music was a big part of her life, so we know this was a perfect passing for her. Gloria was preceded in death by both of her parents, her first born daughter (Shelly), both of her brothers (Roy, Jr., and Tony), and her 3 ex husbands (Rennie, Mathew and Mark). She often jokingly referred to herself as Gloria Rose Barnes, Watson, Snider, Fisher. Lots of laughs and teasing over that.
Gloria was born in San Francisco and lived in California most of her life. She lived in New York for a short time, where she was a high fashion model, but mostly lived in the Bay Area. At the age of 50 she went back to college and earned a degree in Hospitality, but went on to work for the Geological Survey in Menlo Park. In the 1990s she moved to Medford Oregon to live near her son. She was a talented and loving person with many friends. For the last 8 years of her life she lived in Janet Anderson’s Assisted Living home, where she was very well cared for emotionally, spiritually and physically. We cannot thank Janet, Frances and her other caregivers enough for their love and care. Her son faithfully visited her daily for some years, and then weekly. Her daughters visited from California when they could. We have missed her for a long time, but it is a blessing to know that she is whole again – and with her many, many loved ones.
Gloria leaves behind four children: Tony (& Elvia) Watson, Shelley Watson, Thelma (&Dale) Westrom and Elizabeth Koetke; ten grandchildren: Jennifer (&Anthony) Howard, Justin Watson, Summer (&Brian) Coe, Kory (&Merissa) Augustson, Melissa (&Dan) Lobbregt, Laura Rodriguez, Alejandra Rodriguez, Christina Rodriguez, Seth Koetke and Jacob Koetke; and eight great-grandchildren: D
Sadrena Martin, Tasha Martin, Jordan Dickerson, Blaize Dickerson, Chloe Coe, Wyatt Coe, Kayla Augustson and Brynn Augustson.
She will be laid to rest at Olivet Cemetery in Colma, California - joining her parents.
