Gloria's obituary
Gloria (Anderson) Ambrose, 67 of Grand Haven, Michigan passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 17, 2022 due to complications following a surgical procedure.
Gloria was born the middle of three children to Robert F. and Madeline Anderson and was raised in a loving home in Montague, Michigan. Living near several uncles, aunts and cousins made for a wonderful, small town upbringing. Gloria was elected her senior class' Homecoming Queen and graduated in 1973. She started a family soon after with former husband, Brad Ambrose and gave birth to three beautiful, very active children (Sabrina, Timothy & Heather) within 3 years. Anyone that knew Gloria at that time knew that she fully enjoyed being a mother. Slumber parties and fun activities were a staple at the Ambrose home. Gloria found herself active in PTA and school activities at Shettler Elementary, eventually accepting a position as a special education paraprofessional within Fruitport Community Schools. Gloria was well-known for dressing up for every holiday. Even after the kids were grown and she left the school system, she continued to donn festive headbands, necklaces and costumes as a waitress at Big Boy and The Rendezvous in Grand Haven. Her infectious smile and perpetually joyful personality have made her quite popular around town over the years. She enjoyed a following of regular customers, that she truly loved. They in turn showed her enormous support during some trying times with her health. Gloria was a proud grandmother, lovingly referred to as "Ninie". First came along Taylor (25), then Jaxon (14) and Grayson (12). She was over-the-moon to become a great-grandmother to Myles (3), who gave her daily inspiration to fight through days of pain, weakness and fatigue. Daily playtime, cuddles and book reading filled her heart and really kept her going. Throughout Gloria's life, she was faced with major health issues. Although she was petite, that little size couldn't hold her down from life. She always made it through. She went back to being a mom, went back to being "Ninie" (grandma), went back to work and carried on. This time though, it was just too much for her. She was surrounded in love by her children, siblings and granddaughter who were blessedly able to hold her those last moments as she peacefully joined family and friends in Heaven who now get to enjoy her laughter, sillyness and wide-eyed innocence.
Gloria loved the children's book, "Love You Forever" by Robert Munsch and frequently sang the lullabye, even referencing it at her own mother's funeral. For those who loved her, they would understand the power of those lyrics for a mother. Her children (and grandchildren) honor her with...
"I'll love you forever, I'll like you for always, As long as I'm living, my mommy you'll be."
