Glenna's obituary
Glenna Calton, a woman of strength, kindness, and a nurturing spirit, was born on April 15, 1946, and passed away on August 10, 2023. A pillar of love and warmth, Glenna was well-known for her good-hearted nature and her profound belief in the universal principle - you don’t have to be blood to be family. She believed in the power of love and acceptance, the guardianship of children, and the enduring affection Jesus bestows upon us all.
Glenna's legacy is one of love and care, transcending the boundaries of biological relations, extending to anyone who had the privilege of knowing her. A legacy of how a mother should be to her children and all others.
During her life, Glenna had accomplished many feats, the greatest of which was being a near perfect example of a decent human being. She was always there for her neighbors and loved ones, always ready to extend a helping hand and she never met a stranger. Glenna laid the foundation of a community where all children are loved, nurtured, and protected and everyone is treated equally.
Glenna leaves behind her daughters Rachel Willbanks, Patricia Beard and Beverly Stewart, and her son, Densil Watts, who will continue to walk the path lighted by her values and wisdom. She is preceded in death by her son Marcus Shugart. Glenna’s imprint reaches far beyond her immediate family. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her – family, friends, and those who affectionately referred to her as “mom” or “Miss Glenna.”
Her life will be honored with a viewing at Anderson & Son Funeral Home on Sunday, August 13, 2023, at 2:00 PM and another on Monday, August 14, 2023, at 10:00 AM. A funeral service will be held at the same location on Monday, August 14, 2023, at 1:00 PM to be followed by funeral procession to Mount Pleasant Church of Christ Cemetery.
