Glenn's obituary

Glenn James Young, 75, of Knoxville, TN, passed away on April 1, 2025. Born on July 12, 1949 in New Orleans, LA, he was a devoted husband to Diane and a loving father to Ross, Lara, James, Katie, Meg, and Aimee.

Glenn loved his family, rock and roll, and the Tennessee Vols. His greatest joy in life was being “Pappy” to his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He had an enduring sense of humor and was always in the mood to sing. He worked for several years in the retail car parts business, and he always enjoyed chatting with and serving the customers he encountered.

Glenn could make a friend anywhere, whether at a Mardi Gras party or the grocery store. His legacy lives on through the countless lives he impacted.

He is survived by his wife, Diane; children, Ross, Lara, James, Katie, Meg, and Aimee; grandchildren, Noah, Bailey, Tia, Desi, Mikey, Luciano, Timothy, Ayla, Benjamin, and Henry; great-grandchildren, Aubriee, A’Nyla, and Amani; sister, Jamie; and several children-in-law. He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Elaine; and brothers, Ricky and Timmy.

A drop-in Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, June 8, 2025, from 2:00pm to 4:30pm at the Karns Community Center (7708 Oak Ridge Highway, Knoxville, TN 37931).
