Mike's obituary

Glenn Michael Alonzo, also known to us as Mike, Dad, Uncle Mike, Clobby and Mike, joined the stars on June 12th, 2024. Beyond the final frontier and boldly went where no man has gone before–but not without leaving a lasting mark on everyone who ever knew him.

Mike was born on August 11th, 1964 to Ray and Sylvia Alonzo in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. In his early years he enjoyed playing for the Falcons football team in High School, all the while harboring a deep passion for all things comics, Star Trek, Star Wars and other pop culture. The only thing that rivaled his enthusiasm was his eagerness to share these worlds with others around him.

This eagerness led to Mike meeting Veronica Haugh at Coast Con in Mississippi in 1986 and a grand adventure was had, indeed. They welcomed two children into the world, Ashley Alonzo and Jonathan Alonzo.

Anyone who ever knew Mike knew he had an infectious way to draw people in with outlandish stories, silly quips and a wealth of knowledge. So much so that he was often called a walking-talking comic book encyclopedia. As such, it became no surprise to anyone that voicing his passions turned into entertaining strangers through talk radio and later YouTube with his show CLOBBERIN’ TIME. He enjoyed being invited to speak about the things he loved so dearly to so many creative people and was humbled to have a platform discuss the things he cared for. His voice, passion and love will surely be missed and never forgotten. We should all live long and prosper, as Mike would have wanted us to.

Mike is predeceased by his grandparents; Mack Alonzo SR, Bessie T Alonzo, and Olive Barrow-Rayburn. His uncles; Joseph L Rayburn SR, Joseph Rayburn JR, and Richard Rayburn.

He is survived by his children Ashley Alonzo (her wife Alex) and Jonathan Alonzo. His uncles Mack Alonzo JR (his wife Ann) and Gary Alonzo SR (his wife Linda). His aunt Kathleen Gay McLean (her husband Don). His brothers Ray Alonzo JR (his wife Kristy) and Danny Alonzo SR (his wife Olga). His parents Ray Alonzo SR and Sylvia Alonzo. Also a host of nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at The Vault Event Center. 36506 Oak Plaza Ave, Prairieville LA 70769 on June 23rd from 2 PM to 8 PM..
