Glenda's obituary
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Glenda Childress, also known as Momma G, born on March 26, 1960 to Johnnie and Mayo Childress. She was one of 6 girls and a twin to her sister Janice Williams. Momma G departed from this world on December 7, 2025. Glenda was a woman of many dimensions; passionate, strong-willed, hardworking, family-oriented, and humble. She was a pillar of strength and the heart of her loving family.
Momma G, as she was affectionately known, leaves behind her cherished children, LaCarl Childress and Falisha Childress, her 5 grandchildren and tons of nieces and nephews whom will miss her dearly. Beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Glenda was admired for her devotion to family.
Momma G was a strong and very passionate woman of many words. Some of her greatest accomplishments included raising her two children and seeing them prosper, providing unwavering support to her family and impacting lives through her dedicated care for the elderly for 41 years. Her legacy of strength and love will continue to inspire all who knew her.
Momma G was a simple lady. You could find her singing and dancing to "oldies but goodies.” If she wasn’t cooking meals for her loved ones or trying her luck at the casino, she could be found binging on “old skool” cowboy flicks or crime shows.
Her lively spirit will be honored and remembered in a series of events. A viewing will be held at Hillcrest Funeral Home on December 20, 2025, at 10:00am, followed by a Celebration of Life at 12:00 PM. Glenda will be laid to rest at Evergreen East Funeral Home at 1:30 PM.
In our hearts, Momma G will forever remain, a beacon of strength, love, and humility. Her strong spirit, her love for family, and her exemplary life will continue to be a source of inspiration for many generations to come.
