Glenda's obituary
Glenda (Smith) Carter, 72, of Tavares, Florida, passed away at her home on August 22, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, love, and just enough sass to keep life interesting.
Born in Jonesboro, Arkansas, and raised in the small town of Cash, Glenda learned early the value of family, hard work, and saying exactly what was on her mind, whether you were ready to hear it or not. She spent her teenage years working in the cotton fields under the hot Arkansas sun, the kind of work that built both grit and character. Her mom made sure she was grounded in faith as well, with church being a staple of her upbringing. A proud graduate of Westside High School, she ventured to Chicago for a short time before returning to the Jonesboro area, where she would put down roots and begin building her life.
Glenda’s work ethic was unmatched. She spent 12 years with General Electric before moving into the world of retail, where she became a multi-million dollar sales associate at Dillard’s during her 20-year career. Later, she spent 6 years at Quad Graphics and nearly a decade at Lowe’s, where she brought her trademark energy and charm to everyone she met. Retirement didn’t slow her down. Instead, she poured her heart into caregiving, where her clients quickly became her friends.
Beyond her work, Glenda’s life was rich with the things she loved most. She had a yard brimming with plants she tended like family, and she never turned down the chance to hop on a plane, most recently traveling to Puerto Rico and Hawaii. But of all the things that brought her joy, nothing came close to the pride she felt in her two grandsons. They were the center of her world, and she never missed an opportunity to brag about them.
Glenda was known for her boundless energy, her infectious laugh, and her ability to surprise you with whatever unfiltered thought crossed her mind. She made life fun.
She is survived by her daughter Tiffany (Rick) Lueallen of Clermont, FL; her beloved grandsons, Michael Still and Jace Lueallen; her sister Peggy Smith of Bono, AR; and many friends whose lives are brighter for having known her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Nadine (Putt) Smith of Cash, AR.
As she wished, Glenda will be cremated and laid to rest beside her parents at Jonesboro Memorial Park. No service will be held, but those who knew her are invited to honor her memory by planting something green, laughing loudly, or telling someone exactly what’s on your mind.
