Glen's obituary

Glen Claughton passed away peacefully at home on Friday, January 6, 2023. Glen was born on December 15, 1951, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to John Claughton and the late Eloise Johnson Claughton.

Glen received his education at Lemington Elementary School and Peabody High School. While in high school Glen was selected to participate in accelerated classes at Carnegie Mellon University. Upon graduation, he continued his education at Penn Technical Institute where he received an Associate Degree in Specialized Electronic Technology.

Having a passion for electronics and technology, Glen entered the United States Air Force to further his training. After being honorably discharged, he returned to Pittsburgh to work in various technical positions. He retired in 2018 from his position as a Network Administrator for the City of Pittsburgh Planning Department.

Glen was known for his technical aptitude; he was a pioneer in the field of computer science. He understood personal computers long before they were a common household item. He was the person family and friends called upon for assistance with their electronic devices.

On December 29th, 1972, Glen was united in marriage to Arlene Louise Cobb. From this union a daughter and son were born. He was a loving and devoted husband and father. Glen would do anything for his family. His willingness to help extended to others as well.

Glen leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife of 50 years, Arlene; children: Ericka Elliott and Aaron Claughton; father, John Claughton; sisters: Sharon Banks-Tarr, Linda Castile; grandchildren: Mason and Lauren Elliott; Nieces: Shiree Warren, Resha Porter (Edward), Ashley Murrell (Louis) and a host of relatives and friends who loved him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his sister Caroll Banner.

Glen’s life was grounded in his Christian faith and was evident in his interactions with others. He was a generous and loving person to all he met. His legacy will carry on forever.
