I miss Glen very much and think about him often, especially when I listen to the Astrud Gilberto album that we all enjoyed while we were living in the Boston area. I still picture him jumping up and doing the little Latin dance to Astrud's rendition of Água de Beber at a Halloween party in Framingham. I cherish that memory. It brings a smile whenever I think of it.

Happy Birthday Glen. It was around 15 years ago when you invited me and my parents to come visit you at your cabin. You joyfully prepared breakfast for us all in the morning and introduced me to pure maple syrup. This introduction has cost me a pretty penny;) as I have not used anything other than pure maple syrup for pancakes, waffles etc since that morning! Each time I pull the bottle out of the fridge I think about you and remember the wonderful and joyful times we spent together over the years. Love you and your family so much. Rest in peach Uncle Glen <3
My phone reminder popped up to tell me today is your birthday! I cant believe you would be 60 and I know you would still do some Cache Valley Clogging performance to celebrate. Miss you a lot! Happy Birthday ol' man!
My father, now age 96, has been a patient of Dr. Bowen. I was surprised at his passing when phoning to make an appointment today. I was so impressed with Dr. Bowen's kindness, attentiveness, humor, and care towards my father. He always made him feel important in spite of his age. He showed great respect towards my father and was a favorite doctor of my Dad. Dr. Bowen was competent. As the wife of a physician, my comment would be that Dr. Bowen was a remarkable doctor. We are saddened at his passing and pray his family will be comforted.
It has already been one week since so many friends and loved ones gathered to honor Glen. What a remarkable man he was, who did so much to help others. He epitomized what service leadership is, and the world needs more people like him.

Upon many moments reflecting about last week, I am so grateful that the Bowen family has been such a big part of my life. Mark Bowen and Chuck Clark were my first two friends in this world back when we first met in 1959. Shortly thereafter, I came to know the entire Bowen clan. It was so good to see Scott, Robert, Marianne and Mark again last week. The Bowen family is such a fine example of everything that is good in this world... friendship, care, love, humor, honor and character are but a few descriptors.

Our thoughts are deeply about our friends, the Bowen’s, at this time. It’s hard to lose someone as vital as Glen, but we should all cherish and celebrate his memory and how blessed we all have been to know and love him. We have been so enriched. Thank you, Glen!
Glen was one of the most gifted orators I have ever met. I could tell within seconds of meeting Glen that he really cared. My heartfelt condolences to family and friends. I'm so sorry for your loss.
I found this documentary on Netflix and immediately thought of Glen. He loved to tell me the story of how his older brothers saw them in Salt Lake and how the band had an outline of Texan in the backs of their jean jackets in rhinestones. Glen introduced me to the"Top" and I have been a fan ever since. If you are interested, the documentary is:
ZZ Top: That Little 'Ol Band From Texas
My heart goes out to Dr. Bowen's family at this time. I was fortunate to be able to work on building research database systems with him at HCI for a long time. "Here and now we are less than we were yesterday" (from Guinness for Two, by Ryan McKenna). All my best.

By virtue of Ann's marriage to Mark, we came to know Glen. Encounters were infrequent but memorable.
If you had a question about a strange skin condition he would say, "Well drop your drawers and lets have a look at it."
He was warm, interested and always willing to give whatever help he could with a funny remark.
We wish we were able to get to know him better.
Our love and condolences to the Bowen family.
When student teaching in Logan I desperately wanted to help my students develop an interest in biology, specifically the genetics topics we were studying. I had been assigned a group of intelligent but failing students who felt science (and really school in general) had no relevance to their life. I wanted to show them how cool careers in science could be. I asked several scientists to come talk to my class about what they did. One of these was Glen. I e-mailed him and said “Hey I need someone to come inspire kids to be interested in the field of genetics and cancer research and science in general” and he immediately responded “I’m there”. He took the time to drive up to Logan and spent an entire day interacting with each of my 6 classes. I’ll never forget it and neither will the students. He showed lots of gorey bloody skin cancer photos that I probably should have had pre-approved. He told lots of stories and a few inappropriate jokes. He did all of this in his skull cap, which I think he forgot to take off. He got so excited and passionate about what he was saying he couldn’t tone down the lingo. I don’t think the students understood a word he said.. but they loved it anyway.
I grew up in the same neighborhood as Glen and am four years older than Glen (same age as his brother Mark) and took piano lessons from his dear mother. Glen and I had some great times together. As boys, my brother and I typically won the cub scout pinewood derby in our ward, and Glen or his mother (I don't remember who) approached me to help him build a winning car when he was about nine years old. I remember polishing the axles for that car on the lathe we had in the basement of our home. We had a lot of fun making a pinewood derby car together. Happily, it too turned out to be a winner. He was such a great guy and funny back then as a boy. Time passed on, and I lost track of him as I was consumed with a decade of training to become an orthopedic surgeon and ended up living in California. I somewhere ran into him about 20 years in Utah, and it was great to see what he had become. I found the same distinctive personality and same wonderful sense of humor in him as an adult that he had as a child and remembered again with fondness our great times building that pinewood derby. May the Lord bless your dear family Glen in this time of great challenge. Until we meet again and with love, Ron Anderson MD
I was so saddened to hear of Glen’s passing. What a gem he was and I adored his sense of humor. By far one of the kindest doctors I have met in all my years of working in dermatology. Glen will be missed by all whose lives he touched. My heartfelt Sympathy to Anneli and the family.
I was a patient of Dr. Bowen in July of 2018. He took the time to educate me about my condition. He proceeded to determine a protocol for me to follow. It took several months and his treatment made its magic!! I am so grateful to Dr. Bowen for taking care of my health. I am also grateful for his support for my daughter Cressida Cooke, who worked for him for several years. Cressida respected Dr. Bowen and felt it was a privilege to work for such a remarkable doctor and leader. He inspired her and she did her best to take care of his patients and was proud to coordinate the administrative responsibilities. Dr. Bowen saw Cressida grow, but also her daughter, Sophia, who is now a lovely 12 years old. They both were happy to see each other and Sophia will always remember him for his kindness to her. Dr. Bowen touched our family in different ways and we will miss and think of him always. Lourdes Cooke
When I first started in Mohs, sometimes I'd get bubbles trapped near the specimen. I was with Dr. Bowen one day, and he caught one of my bubbles. He then said "Beware of the Blob!" He brought the video/song up for me on YouTube. Now whenever I get bubbles trapped near my specimen, I hear Dr. Bowen's voice saying, "Beware of the blob."

He'll be greatly missed. <3

Glen and I first met in November of 1999 when the Huntsman Cancer Institute opened. We set up the derm clinic up there and I knew nothing about derm but I was so excited to learn because he was excited to teach. I was only 22 when we started working together. I can’t believe it’s been 20 years that we’ve been friends. He was such a big part of my family. He was family. I’ve known you for 20 years now. I can’t believe it. We had the best times at Huntsman. In fact it hardly felt like work with Glen. I am so grateful for everything he taught me in dermatology and in life. I will miss all the story telling and our yearly cabin trips.
Ive never met anybody else in life that has the ability to make every person feel like they are the most important.
Thank you for loving my family as your own. I hope you are at peace in heaven now my friend. We love you.❤️❤️❤️
