Gladymir's obituary

It is with great heartbreak that we announce the sudden passing of Gladymir “Glad” Philippe on the morning of Friday, August 18th, 2023.

Gladymir was born in Cap-Haitien, Haiti March 1992. At the age of 19, he moved to Salt Lake City, Utah. Initially, Gladymir pursued pre-med at Weber State University but after a few years realized that his passion lay in the business world. In 2018, he started his first startup company called Stealtix. In 2021, he founded Kado, a company focused on connecting skilled students to part-time tech jobs. Gladymir also was devoted to breaking barriers for minorities of color in the local Utah community. He was an advisor for the Black Technology Mentorship Program and made personal connections within the Utah Black Chamber.

Gladymir received many remarkable achievements such as being recognized for the Rising Impact award by the Utah state Governor, the WIN100- Top100 Entrepreneurs for 2022, and was the first black entrepreneur to pitch at the Silicon Slopes Tech Summit.

Gladymir was an avid reader. He also enjoyed running, traveling, hiking, and playing basketball in his spare time. If you were "lucky," he'd square you up on the court for a game of 1 on 1. Some even joked that he was a Kevin Durant look-alike.

In his immediate family, Gladymir is survived by his mother Gladys, grandmother Deliverance, sister Bianca, and son Gaethan. In his extended family, he is survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins, and of course, friends that became like family.

A celebration of life is being held by dear friends on Sunday, August 27th at 3 pm at Industry, located at 650 S 500 W in Salt Lake, Utah. A formal memorial service and burial will be held in early September to allow for loved ones from out of state to be in attendance. All are welcome to attend both events.

A Gofundme account has been made by a friend of his mother, Gladys Etienne, to help cover the cost of a memorial service. If you feel so inclined, feel free to donate in that manner.
