Gino's obituary
Gino Zoppe, born February 5, 1988, in Newhall, California, unexpectedly passed away in Sarasota, Florida, on March 19, 2024, at 36 years old, leaving behind a legacy that spans generations. He was the beloved third son of Mafalda Zamperla and James Zoppe, preceded in death by his older brother Matt Zoppe, Nonna Francesca, and Nonno Napoleon Zamperla. He is survived by his cherished daughter, Francesca Zoppe, who was the light and love of his life, his devoted mother Mafalda Zamperla, father James Zoppe, his older brother Olissio Zoppe, and his younger brother Ermes Zamperla. Also mourning his loss are his Zia Ernestina Zamperla, his Zio Atos/Amanda Selexis Zamperla, Zia Janie/George George Jr/Olga and Michael/April Corona. His Zio Ermes/Kathy Sofia, Vincenzo, and Alessandro Zamperla, as well as his nieces Ottavia Zoppe and Angelica Zoppe.
Gino Zoppe was the embodiment of a legacy, an eighth-generation acrobatic equestrian performer. From the age of four, he showcased his multi-talented skills in various shows across the United States and Canada, and Europe. His journey led him to perform with iconic institutions such as the Cheval Theatre, Ringling Bros. Circus, Arabian Nights, and as a stunt rider and extra in TV and film. Most recently, he performed in his brother Olissio’s circus, Ma’Ceo.
A warrior in every sense, Gino was dedicated to his family and passionate about preserving their legacy. He approached his craft with precision and grace, whether atop a galloping horse or supporting those around him on the ground. His equestrian talents were unmatched, and he took immense pride in caring for his horses. Beyond his prowess in the ring, Gino was a creative soul. His artwork, equipment designs, and ground combat choreography for jousting re-enactments showcased his boundless imagination and artistic flair.
Gino Zoppe's passing leaves a void in the hearts of all who loved him. His legacy will endure through the memories he created and the lives he touched. He will be remembered as a master of his craft, a loving father, a devoted son and brother, and a true friend. May he rest in peace, knowing that his spirit lives on in the hearts of those who loved him.
