BOILING SPRINGS, SC - Gina Renee Lea (Lacaud) Reece, 89, of Boiling Springs, SC, passed away at home surrounded by her daughter Marie-Elisabeth Young, her son-in-law Russell Young, and the family pets on November 9, 2021 at 11:20 p.m. Gina was born on August 12,1932 in Chateauroux, France to Pierre Lacaud and Jeanne Charpentier. She was 7 years old when Hitler’s Germany invaded France. She lived her childhood in a war-torn country enduring food lines, Nazi raids, and the dangers of her parents being active members of the French Resistance. As a teenager, she was a sewing apprentice and remained in the field as a professional seamstress until the early 1980’s, working for such companies as Polly Flender, Bobby Brooks and Aero Draperies. She is preceded in death by her parents and by her former husband Jerry Lee Reece, whom she met in France during the American Occupation. Jerry served in the United States Air Force. They were married on December 8, 1956. Gina immigrated to the United States and became a citizen on November 20, 1962. She was most proud of this accomplishment. Gina never knew a stranger. She could be the life of any gathering. She enjoyed good food, good drink, travel, and a good bargain. Gina is survived by her son Dominique Lacaud, his wife Nadine, and their daughter Elodie; and by her daughter Marie-Elisabeth Young, her husband Russell, and their children Scott, Logan, and Reece. The memorial and internment of her ashes will be held at a later time in a private family ceremony. In honor of Gina’s life, please volunteer with groups and organizations which provide services for and care to people who suffer from Dementia and/or Alzheimer’s, such as nursing homes, memory care units, and hospice care. Anyone can give money, our elderly need our time.
