Gilda's obituary

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Gilda Trochez on February 3, 2024.  Born on January 8, 1948, Gilda lived a vibrant and passion-filled life that has left a lasting impact on everybody who knew her.

Gilda was a strong woman who immigrated from El Salvador at the age of 17.  Losing her own mother when she was 13, Gilda followed her older sister and niece to Los Angeles to build a new life. Here, she met her soul mate, Armando, and married shortly after; she was looking forward to celebrating their 56th wedding anniversary later on this year.

Family was important to Gilda, and she worked hard to provide for her children, family, and those who needed her. Gilda is survived by her husband, Armando, their 2 children, Christian and Jennifer, and 3 grandchildren, Chloe, Wyatt, and Constantine, who she very much adored.

Among her many achievements, Gilda counted becoming a U.S. Citizen as a milestone, demonstrating her love for her adopted country whenever possible.  Gilda was a hard worker and many of her favorite memories happened when she worked at the California Science Center and then when she worked at Target up until her retirement.  As she worked hard throughout her life and saw her children, her nieces, her nephews, and her grandchildren grow up and become successful in what they do, she felt that she was living the American Dream.

Gilda was a generous and kind soul; she was loyal to her friends and family, and she valued her relationships.  Gilda loved to laugh and joke around; she was a kid at heart, and this is why her grandchildren loved her.  Her infectious energy and sense of humor was always present at every family gathering and celebration, her laughter bringing joy to all present.

To honor Gilda's beautiful life, a funeral service will take place on April 5, 2024, at 2:00 PM, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. The family also warmly invites all to a celebration of Gilda's life, to be held on April 5, 2024, at 5:30 PM at Castaway in Burbank to honor and celebrate her love of music, food, family, and friends.  In both gatherings, we will reminisce and share stories, celebrating the beautiful soul that was Gilda Trochez.

In lieu of flowers, we ask for prayers and fond memories to be shared, as Gilda's spirited personality and warm laughter will forever remain etched in our hearts.
