Gilberto's obituary

Gilberto Polastre, 76, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 10, 2023 with his wife, children, and grandchildren lovingly by his side. Gilberto Polastre was born on February 4, 1947, to the late Leovigilda Algodona and Juan Polastre. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Kristine Polastre, five brothers, Augusto Polastre, Omar Polastre, Gabriel Diaz, Miguel Diaz, Ameth Diaz, and sister, Noris Polastre.

He is survived by his three children: Anie Polastre (sons) Kamryn and Ethan, and (daughter) Kayla, Shevonne Polastre (son) Cebastian, (daughter) Isabelle, and (grandson) Giovanni and Geordanie Polastre (sons) Yapfhet and Jaziel. Gilberto is survived by his younger brother Osvaldo Polastre.

Gilberto Polastre married Evelia in his early twenties, and the couple moved to the United States to begin their lives together. Together they worked tirelessly to bring the American dream to their daughters, grandchildren, and great grandchild. Gilberto loved spending time and doting on his family. Gilberto enlisted in the United States Army and served his country honorably for more than 26 years. He then retired from the U.S. Army as a Master Sergeant.

In his retirement, Gilberto was an expert hunter using only a bow and arrow. He loved being in the gym, working on his home and yard, listening to music, and spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild. He was an extremely hard worker, dedicated and determined to provide for his family and give them the life they deserved.

There will be a memorial/celebration of life on Friday, March 17, 2023 at 12:00 PM at Baker-Post Funeral Home, Manassas Virginia. Viewing will occur before the service at 11:00 AM.

He will be cremated and laid to rest alongside his beloved daughter Kristine Polastre.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers please consider a donation to St. Jude Children's Hospital.

Gilberto Polastre, de 76 años, falleció en paz el viernes 10 de marzo de 2023 con su esposa, hijos y nietos amorosamente a su lado. Gilberto Polastre nació el 4 de febrero de 1947, hijo de Leovigilda Algodona y Juan Polastre. Le precedieron en la muerte su hija, Kristine Polastre, cinco hermanos, Augusto Polastre, Omar Polastre, Gabriel Diaz, Miguel Diaz, Ameth Diaz y su hermana, Noris Polastre.

Le sobreviven sus tres hijos: Anie Polastre (hijos) Kamryn y Ethan, y (hija) Kayla, Shevonne Polastre (hijo) Cebastian, (hija) Isabelle y (nieto) Giovanni y Geordanie Polastre (hijos) Yapfhet y Jaziel. A Gilberto le sobrevive su hermano menor, Osvaldo Polastre.

Gilberto Polastre se casó con Evelia cuando tenía poco más de veinte años y la pareja se mudó a los Estados Unidos para comenzar su vida juntos. Juntos trabajaron incansablemente para llevar el sueño americano a sus hijas, nietos y bisnietos. A Gilberto le encantaba pasar tiempo y adorar a su familia. Gilberto se alistó en el Ejército de los Estados Unidos y sirvió a su país con honor durante más de 26 años. Luego se retiró del ejército de los EE. UU. como sargento mayor.

En su retiro, Gilberto era un experto cazador utilizando únicamente el arco y la flecha. Le encantaba estar en el gimnasio, trabajar en su casa y jardín, escuchar música y pasar tiempo con su esposa, hijos, nietos y bisnieto. Era un trabajador extremadamente duro, dedicado y decidido a mantener a su familia y darles la vida que se merecían.

Habrá un memorial/celebración de la vida el viernes 17 de marzo de 2023 a las 12:00 p. m. en Baker-Post Funeral Home, Manassas, Virginia. La visualización tendrá lugar antes del servicio a las 11:00 a. m.

Será incinerado y enterrado junto a su amada hija Kristine Polastre.

La familia solicita que, en lugar de flores, considere una donación al Hospital Infantil St. Jude.
