Background
Gilbert was an incredible man of strength, compassion and resilience. He never let his cancer keep him from providing love and support to his family and friends, always placing the needs of others before his own. Gilbert spoiled his wife and children. Gilbert would wake up the children each morning for school with breakfast ready for them and coffee ready for Tracy. Gilbert made a point to call his father everyday and to stay connected with extended family and friends. Despite the tremendous pain he was undoubtedly feeling, he never complained. He was the type of man who saw a person’s need and did his best to meet it. Throughout his battle, Gilbert’s dedication to his family and friends remained unwavering.
Many of you have asked how to help the Gastelum family during this immensely painful time. Because of Gilbert’s very long battle with cancer, a formidable life insurance policy was not an option. The immediate need is to gather enough money to ensure the Gastelum family can provide a final resting place for Gilbert at the beautiful Green Hills Cemetery where the sun shines brightly and family and friends can visit him on the grass. Raquel and Chris will long to spend time with him there as they will be relying on his memory and his spirit to guide them in their formative years. It should be a final resting place where family and friends can go to honor him, feel his soul, hear his voice, see his smile and sit and chat for a while. Contribute
