Gilbert's obituary

In Loving Memory of Gilbert Monteleone

Passed away November 30, 2013

Gilbert Monteleone, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on November 30, 2013, at 1:15 AM at St. Joseph’s Hospital. He was a man of deep love, quiet strength, and simple joys.

Gilbert was the beloved husband of the late Phyllis J. Fluke Monteleone, who preceded him in passing on June 16, 2025. Together, they built a life rooted in family, creativity, and kindness.

He is survived by his loving daughters, Mary E. Greene and Lisa Alvarez; sons-in-law James Greene and Reinaldo Alvarez; cherished grandchildren Natasha, Alissa, and Stephen; and his adored great-grandson, Jordan. He also leaves behind a legacy of love, craftsmanship, and laughter that will be carried on through each of them.

A skilled woodworker, Gilbert found great joy in creating beautiful cedar chests, furniture, and wooden decorations for his family. His hands built not just objects, but memories—pieces that will be treasured for generations to come.

Gilbert was also an avid bowler with a sharp eye and a competitive spirit. He bowled regularly, especially on Sunday mornings with his family, and proudly passed his love of the game down to his grandchildren, teaching them not just technique, but the value of quality time together.

He had a soft spot for his feline companions, Phanny and Squirty (Precious), who were never far from his side. He was well known around town behind the wheel of his beautiful old Chevy truck, a symbol of his old-school charm and enduring spirit.

Gilbert Monteleone will be remembered for his warmth, his laughter, his craftsmanship, and the way he lit up the lives of those around him. His legacy lives on in the love he gave and the memories he created.

He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
