My name is Laurie Paci and I am the founder of the Southwest Florida Watercolor Society.  I fell in love with Gil's paintings not long after he started, he caught light and color in it's most magical state.  I tried to get Gil to run over to Bonita Springs , FL to give us a class, but of course he valued his painting time, not so much driving to BS.  I consider his air and light filled paintings a gift to all who are lucky to experience it.  My favorite childhood book was "Uncle Wiggly", a cartoon character who regularly painted rainbows, I will think of Gil everytime I see a rainbow!

Kindest Regards to all his family and friends,  Laurie Dodge Paci :)

To my dismay I read in the spring/summer prattfolio that Gil had passed away this year.

Gil and I first met when he, Kathy Spaulding (his future wife), Peter Primak, Gary Rogers and my self spent the summer of 1974 (?) working in the Lorenz studio drawing architural renderings.
Lorenz and Gil did not get along to well.
Gil was finishing inking a large rendering when his rapidograph dropped a large splat of black ink onto to the drawing. Gil panicked and so did the rest of us. Fortunately Lorenz was not in the studio. We spent the rest of the afternoon scraping and inking over spill with white ink. Lorenz never noticed the accident.
Sometime later Gil and Kathy moved to Fort Lauderdale and we received a wedding invation. Gary, Peter, myself and Peter’s girl friend, Jodi Nadel packed ourselves into Gary’s small BMW and drove straight thru to Florida without stopping to help celebrate the wedding. Sorry to say that was the last time I was Gil.
My deepest sympathy and condolence for your loss.
