Bud's obituary

Gideon C. Reynolds III, affectionately known as Bud, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2026, at the age of 86. Born on July 6, 1939, in Yonkers, New York, Bud lived a life rich in love, dedication, and service, leaving an indelible mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Bud was the cherished son of Gideon C. II and Mary Reynolds, who preceded him in death. He was also reunited in eternal peace with his step-daughter, Karrey Nominee. A devoted husband, Bud is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Melinda, with whom he shared a beautiful journey filled with love and adventure. They married on August 10, 2000, and together, they built a life centered around family, faith, and cherished memories.

Bud was a proud and devoted father to his children: Lori Spack (Bob), Robert Reynolds, Melissa Lewis, Kathy Barton (Jason), Shelly Holt, Aimee Sivillo, Cynthia Kunkler (Tony), Jack Shepler (Ben), Jonathon Shepler, and Stephanie Lindle (Mitch). His legacy extends to his 30 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, who will forever carry his memory in their hearts.

A man of unwavering dedication, Bud served for over 40 years in management at RCA/BMG Direct Group, where his leadership and commitment left an enduring impact. In addition to his professional accomplishments, Bud was deeply committed to his community, volunteering as an EMT and firefighter in Castleton, Indiana, for 23 years. His selflessness and courage were a confirmation of his character and devotion to helping others.

Bud's life was a testament to his faith and values. As an Eagle Scout, he embodied the principles of integrity and service from a young age. A devoted Catholic, Bud found solace and strength in his faith, which guided him throughout his life.

Beyond his professional and community endeavors, Bud had a zest for life and adventure. He loved traveling, finding most joy in his favorite resort in French Lick, Indiana. Bud also had a unique knack for organization, keeping a meticulous spreadsheet for everything. He treasured family holidays, keepsakes, and memorabilia.

Known for his drive and tenacity, Bud bravely fought a 12-year battle with lung cancer, alongside COPD and congestive heart failure. He was driven by his determination to spend every possible moment with the love of his life, Melinda. His courage and resilience were inspiring to all who knew him.

The family will hold a celebration of life to honor Bud's memory on Saturday, March 21st from 2-5pm at Edgewood Banquet & Event Center in Anderson, Indiana. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Heart Association and/or American Lung Association. His legacy of love, dedication, and faith will forever remain a guiding light for his family and all who had the privilege to know him.
