“Patrón,” which means boss in Spanish, later became “Patrone” to give it an Italian flavor. That’s how I lovingly addressed Giancarlo every time I saw him.
He was my first and only boss, giving me my first job at 17—without knowing it would change my life forever. Giancarlo didn’t just give me a job; he gave me a chance. A place where I discovered my passion, met lifelong friends, and even met the love of my life.
He was more than a boss. He came into my life at a pivotal moment—the transition from teenager to adulthood. He never hesitated to help me or bail me out when I got into trouble, or give me the occasional ear-pull when I got into shenanigans.
Gianluca, Christian, and Adrian, please receive our most sincere condolences. Both your mom and dad were so good to me—they were like my foster parents here in America. I feel extremely blessed and grateful to have had them in my life. They will always hold a very special place in my heart.
May God grant their souls eternal rest.
