Getchel Wilson passed away at Torrance Memorial Hospital on May 25th, 2024, after suffering a series of mild strokes leading to complications from cardiac surgery. At her passing she was surrounded by her loving son Geoffrey Garland, longtime partner and fiancée Culver Van Buren and former business partner and former husband John Garland. Getchel is greatly missed by all including her long-time real estate friends Bonney Larson and Lida Sandera, former husband Mike Wilson and her many friends from the real estate community.

We mourn her untimely yet peaceful passing and miss her so very much.

Along with John Garland, Getchel established a successful real estate company, Century 21 on Highland Avenue in Manhattan Beach in the 1980’s. She then continued a long and successful real estate career at South Bay Brokers (now Vista Sotheby’s) and had recently retired, enjoying the peace and contentment of a beautiful garden, good food and family.

Getchel was interested and active in politics and supported many great political candidates. She travelled to Italy and the Netherlands and many times to Hawaii with Culver. She loved and enjoyed her three adorable grandchildren, Emelia, Jacob and Julian and daughter-in-law Gaby. She is survived by her son Geoff Garland and fiancée Culver. We will forever love you Grandma Getchel.
