Gerardo's obituary

Gerardo Ayala Sr. of San Jose Gualoso, El Salvador was born on October 16, 1953, and transitioned on October 30, 2025. A kind friend to all animals and countless strangers, Gerardo first arrived in the United States in the 70’s and became a proud US citizen in 2006. He enjoyed classical music, notably Maurice Ravel’s Boléro and Franz Liszt’s Hungarian Rhapsody No.2.

For almost four decades, Gerardo worked on house painting and home remodeling projects. He was precise and meticulous in each of his projects. His labors can be seen throughout the region, particularly in Old Town Alexandria.

He is survived by his loving wife, Aracely Fonseca de Ayala and his three beloved children, Ana, Gerardo, and Stephanie. His love of learning, remarkable work ethic, and resilience are instilled in each one of his children and surviving siblings.
