Gerard J. Gravel

Gerard Gravel 88, of Temple City, California passed away Friday July 1, 2022, in West Covina, he died peacefully in his sleep after being sick for some time.

Gerard was an Army Veteran in the Korean War, he served from 1953-1956, CPL (Corporal) and also as a Chef.

Gerard was employed at California Hardware for over 30 years.   He was part of the Holy Name Society  for the San Gabriel Mission and The Knights of Columbus at both The San Gabriel Mission and St Luke’s Church.  He was an Usher for both and he helped with the Fiesta at the San Gabriel Mission, St. Luke’s and Sierra Madre Retreats.  He was also a Volunteer for the RSVP (Residential Safety Volunteer Patrol) in Temple City, California.

He was Born on August 9, 1933 in Chicago Illinois to Avila and Victoria (Tessier) Gravel and was Married to his first wife Bernice (Brejcha) Gravel in Chicago on Oct 10, 1959.  Gerard and Bernice  had three daughters Sandra (born in Chicago), Joan and Kathryn (born in California).  After 20 years of marriage they divorced and Gerard found love again and married his second wife Rosario on February 11, 1981 in San Gabriel, California.

He was a kind and loving husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, great grandfather and friend.

Survived by his wife, Rosario, his daughters Sandra, Joan and Kathryn (Bobby), his grandchildren, David (Nancy), Roy, Jacinta, Vincent, Cristobal and Matthew; as well as his great grandchildren, Amelia and Dominic and many nieces and nephews.

He was proceeded in death by his parents,  Avila and Victoria, 5 brothers, 6 sisters and his first wife Bernice.

There will be a Viewing on July 19, 2022 from 4-8 pm at Mountain View Mortuary located at 2400 Fair Oaks Avenue, Altadena, CA.

A Mass Service will be held at 10:30 am on July 20, 2022 at St. Luke Church located at 5605 Cloverly Avenue, Temple City, CA 91780.  Following Mass he will be saluted with Military Honors at 12:45 pm at Riverside National Cemetery, located at 22495 Van Buren Blvd Riverside, California.  Flowers can be sent to the Mountain View Mortuary at the address above.
